Alla, born in Ukraine, lives and works between London and New York. She has completed the Master Program (MFA) in painting at the New York Studio School, studying in the ateliers of Dean of the school Graham Nickson, and that of Judy Glantzman and Kyle Staver. Alla studied classical painting techniques at Heatherley’s and also received training in Italy, France, India, and Belgium. Her paintings are concerned with portraying the gure in bold and rich colours. Personal memories, auto-fiction and invented mythologies run through her images, frequently of friends, family and even herself. They explore and extend the understanding of portraying the figure by playing between the observed subject and the artist’s imagination, the insight given by her sitters and the paint itself.
